Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about cost, matching, methods and your privacy.

How much does dog training cost?

It depends on format and where you live. Across the US, private in-home sessions typically run about $70-$225 each, group courses about $110-$350 for six weeks, and board-and-train programs from roughly $1,400 into the thousands. Your plan shows a typical range for your area, and the quiz itself is free.

What training methods do you recommend?

Rewards-based methods only. That means no shock, prong or choke collars and no intimidation. Modern behavior science shows rewards-based training works as well or better, without the fallout of fear and pain, especially for reactive, anxious or aggressive dogs.

Is my information shared or sold?

No. We use your email to send your plan and a few short training tips, and you can unsubscribe anytime. We never sell your information. See our Privacy Policy for details, including your California and other state privacy rights.

Is TailorTrained a training company?

No. We help you understand what’s driving your dog’s behavior and point you to rewards-based training you can start at home. We’re also building a network of vetted local trainers.

What do I get from the quiz?

A Behavior Profile that explains what’s driving the behavior, three things to try this week, and a recommended training path with a realistic session count and typical prices for your area. Free, in about 60 seconds.

Do you work with local trainers?

We’re onboarding vetted, rewards-based trainers across the US. Until a partner trainer is available in your area, your plan focuses on what you can start at home.

How long does the quiz take?

About 60 seconds. Ten quick questions, most of them one tap.

My dog bit someone. Can you help?

Choose “Aggression or biting” and “I’m worried about safety” in the quiz for immediate safety steps. Bite cases need a qualified professional: a certified behavior consultant (CCPDT or IAABC) or a veterinary behaviorist. Until then, keep your dog safely separated from triggers and talk to your vet.

How do I delete my information?

Use our privacy request form on the Do Not Sell or Share page, or email us. We’ll confirm and process the request as required by applicable law.
